THE MANIFOLD WISDOM OF GOD

Immersion into the Body of Christ

"Therefore, leaving the discussion of the elementary principles of Christ ... not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God, of the teaching of immersions, of laying on of hands, of resurrection of the dead and of eternal judgment ...," Hebrews 6'1-3.

BY ONE SPIRIT

Two things happen immediately to people who are born again by believing the Good News of Jesus. The second one is this: "He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love," Colossians 1'13.

But the first one is "... by one Spirit we were all immersed into one body ..," 1 Corinthians 12'13-14.

Being immersed into the Body of Christ by the Holy Spirit is unique, personal and life changing. No other human being is involved. It cannot be prayed for, or "imparted", or "declared", or "confessed".  It is by the Spirit and is therefore spiritual and eternal.

All Believers can look back and say:

"For by one Spirit we were all immersed into one body - whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free ...," 1 Corinthians 12'13-14.

There is no other way into the Body of Christ because it is made up of His Ekklesia (Called-Out Ones). The actual immersion happens to all who answer the Lord's call. It's the one that extends beyond this life and into eternity and the immersion  that Paul refers to in his list:

"There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one immersion; one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all," Ephesians 4'4-6

"Now you are the Body of Christ and members individually," 1 Corinthians 12'27.

"... speaking the truth in love, ... grow up in all things into Him who is the head - Christ - from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love," Ephesians 4'15-16.
