"In the beginning God created ..."
"... the heavens and the earth,
and all the host of them, were finished.
And on the seventh day God ended his work,"
Only humans view all of nature with awe. We look up, we look around, we look down and we wonder - at the uniqueness and spectacular complexity of our own selves.
The overarching wonder is that only human beings possess consciousness! Saints know that it's all the work of God.
The greatest wonder for ourselves is procreation, producing a baby. It's the ultimate human expression. Parents are astounded by the miracle their love has brought about.
Believing parents know it as being more God's work than theirs.
David expressed it in his psalm:
"For you formed my inward parts; you covered me in my mother’s womb.
I will praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are your works, and that my soul knows very well.
My frame was not hidden from you, when I was made in secret, and skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.
Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. and in your book they all were written, the days fashioned for me," Psalm 139'13-16.
Without doubt living things declare the miraculous nature of their being.
So reader, just think about your own self. An immense multiplicity of highly complex systems working together performing their functions, making you human. Just miraculous!
However, there are those who object to the origin of any thing, from the universe to the human and the incomprehensible complex order of every thing, being credited to a creator.
Objectors reckon that every thing began by chance.
Regarding life, this random chance event is supposed to have happened when a combination of chemicals came together, cohered and became a living "thing".
And, by chance, this non-creation is said to have begun replicating itself. "It" eventually produced all that can be seen in living nature all around the world today.
That's what is reckoned. The fact is that a chemical entity cannot produce. And neither can it reproduce itself.
For those who claim otherwise many questions like these arise:
How can life be intentionally produced now?
Why hasn't life been intentionally produced from chemicals by now?
Why and how did this entity decide to divide itself into male and female?
The impossibility of these things is self-evident.
All of nature is spectacular. Miraculous happenings take place every day. And it's amazing, because life miracles require a unique combination in order to reproduce life.
Procreation begins with the separate entities of Male and Female and requires a unique and independently-made contribution from each.
Obviously, the contributors must meet each other in order to achieve that. And the two contributions must interact purposefully to be effective.
When the interaction is completed, conception is achieved and procreation begins. This happening calls for a series of miracles.
All of nature's happenings raise a multitude of questions, such as: What is it that causes males and females to seek each other out for the happening in the first place? How did each independently-made contribution become viable?
Most of natures happenings seem to be successful in spite of a high level of difficulties that have to be overcome. Just think of salmon swimming upstream against the rapids.
Being mobile, animals are able to move towards each other. Nevertheless, for the males and females to move purposefully towards each other to procreate, motivation is needed (another story!).
But stationary plants are different, obviously. For the male/female contributors to meet to procreate, serious third party assistance is required.
Everwhere that assistance is provided by specific intervening agencies. The amazing thing is that these agencies assist in total ignorance.
The obvious examples of "ignorant third agencies" are Bees as they collect honey, become coated with pollen and carry it from one plant to another.
This achieves the meeting and interactions of the contributions, by pollinating the flowers or plants and generating procreation.
Just one of the amazing aspects is the Bees' ignorance. They are working on their behalf. The critical participation of ignorant third parties in the whole marvellous process of plant reproduction can only be described as miraculous.
All around us every day in nature there are what can only be observed as being utter impossibilities (that's not including those "third agencies").
What happens when new-born animals successfully find their otherwise unfindable food source and place of nurture.
Just think of the blind journey to the mother's pouch that confronts new born Kangaroo "joeys".
And then there are the utterly impossible developmental breaks. The plain example is that a butterfly flies away only after they have survived the mysterious separate stages between egg / caterpillar / crysallis.
The various kinds of gaps are simply naturally unbridgeable. Achieving these naturally would require overcoming utterly impossible insurmountable problems.
It's evident that there is no reproduction without "ignorant third agencies".
"For since the creation of the world
His invisible attributes are clearly seen,
being understood by the things that are made,
even His eternal power and Godhead,
so that they are without excuse,"
Prayer. Thank you heavenly Father, for your truly awesome Kingdom Creation.
In Jesus' name. Amen.
