Kingdom Praying

1 and 2

yours is the Kingdom and the power and the glory

"When you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly".

These are particularly encouraging words because they are intentionally personal. They are found at the end of Matthew 6'2-6.

The siginficant thing is that unlike English, the Greek New Testament language has both singular and plural renderings for the word "you".

In this passage it's singular. Jesus is speaking to His listeners individually.

Praying was part of His teachings that begin at Matthew 5'1 and end at 7'29 commonly called "The Sermon on the Mount".

The extent of the impression that His teachings and He Himself made is summed up in the last verse:

"And so it was, when Jesus had ended these sayings, that the people were astonished at His teaching for He taught them as one having authority and not as the scribes".
