Kingdom Witnessing

"You shall receive power

when the Holy Spirit has come upon you;

and you shall be witnesses to Me,"

Acts 1'8.

Although our past outside of Christ has been blotted out and rendered powerless against us, we should never forget that we were once under the influence of another power (1 John 5'9).

Being spiritually dead to God in our thinking and disposition we were ungodly. And strange as it seems to say it, we were "witnesses"!

Our speech, behaviour, dress, superstitions, traditions, and more, all conveyed our worldly ungodliness and some of Satan's.

Our "witness" influenced others. In conversations, discussions, preferences and by our personal demeanour.

The Bible describes it this way:

''You were dead in trespasses and sins

in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience,

among whom also we all once conducted ourselves

in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others,'' Ephesians 2'1-3.

And yet at some point in the midst of these things we heard the Good News of Jesus Christ and the Kingdom of God.

The Holy Spirit convicted us of our sin, we believed, repented and converted. Then our lives changed radically and we began receiving "spiritual blessings in heavenly places"

These new things came because the Father:

"delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love," Colossians 1'13.

As lights in darkness, we became witnesses to the Life Saver by what had happened to us. We had become different!
