Resurrection of the Dead

Eternal Judgment

"Therefore, leaving the discussion of the elementary principles of Christ,

let us go on to perfection, not laying again

the foundation of repentance from dead works

and of faith toward God,

of the teaching of immersions, of laying on of hands,

of resurrection of the dead and of eternal judgment.

And this we will do if God permits," Hebrews 6'1-3.

"Nevertheless we, according to His promise,

look for new heavens and a new earth

in which righteousness dwells," 2 Peter 3'13.

The last principle of the foundational oracles of God is two-fold: Resurrection of the Dead and Eternal Judgment.

Of course, there's no prospect more certain than death. But death is not the end:

"... as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment", Hebrews 9'27.

So, everyone who dies is going to be judged. In order to be judged a person has to be resurrected from their state of being dead.

The realities of death, resurrection and judgment are eternally different for Believers and Unbelievers. And Jesus spoke some crucial words about these things.

The Resurrection of Life for those who have Christ, who is The Life. They do that which is good and righteous in the sight of God (1 John 5'12, John 14'6).

"And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day," John 6'40,44,54.

The Resurrection of Condemnation for those who are condemned already and do not do what is good in the sight of God (John 3'18,19).

"He who rejects Me, and does not receive My words, has that which judges him - the word that I have spoken will judge him in the last day.

For I have not spoken on My own authority; but the Father who sent Me gave Me a command, what I should say and what I should speak.

And I know that His command is everlasting life. Therefore, whatever I speak, just as the Father has told Me, so I speak," John 12'48-50.

The Lord's words are clarified further:

"Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears my word and believes in Him who sent me has everlasting life and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life,

Most assuredly, I say to you, the hour is coming, and now is, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God; and those who hear will live.

For as the Father has life in Himself, so He has granted the Son to have life in Himself,

and has given Him authority to execute judgment also, because He is the Son of Man.

Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice

and come forth - those who have done good, to the resurrection of life,

and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation," John 5'24-29.
