The Kingdom of God Today

1 and 2

Jesus said,

"Most assuredly, I say to you,

unless one is born again,

he cannot see the Kingdom of God,"

John 3'3.

As the Lord makes clear in the above words, the ability to see the Kingdom of God comes only as the result of an experience.

Further to that He speaks in Matthew 24'14 of "this Good News of the Kingdom". In using the word this, He shows He is referring to the Kingdom He constantly preached about.

It is His New Covenant Kingdom of God. He is its Author. So the Kingdom that Believers can experience today begins with Him.

He concluded His Kingdom teachings during the 40 days prior to His ascension. Since then, though, they have been clouded by teachings that do not have their start in Him.

Now it's time to go to the word of Christ for His Kingdom understandings. Through Paul and the other New Covenant Kingdom scribes the Holy Spirit presents the word of Christ for Believers to receive them.

His understandings are to be found primarily in the scriptures of Acts 2'1 through to Revelation 3'22. (Perhaps they could be called the "kingdom scriptures").

When He came Jesus brought with Him the marvellous "... glad tidings of the kingdom of God" (Luke 8'1). All of His and all of the Holy Spirit's teachings are to do with the New Covenant Kingdom of God.

This Good News reveals that God's Kingdom can be seen, it can be entered, it can be sought and that Believers can be continually receiving it. (More about this later.)

But how do the Lord's Called-Out People experience His Kingdom understandings?

As has been said, it's through an experience, the experience of being "born again", from above, "of the Spirit" - "born of God".

Being "born of God" happens when an unbeliever repents and receives Christ. From it many other wonderful Kingdom things happen. (More later about this too.)

The Lord began His Kingdom teachings by establishing that for those born of God Kingdom life is first and foremost about their relationship with the Father.

Making the point Jesus said the family of God when they pray are to acknowledge it by boldly saying:

“Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name.
Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven."
"For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen." (Matthew 6'9-10,13.)

By having this attitude Christ's People reflect His relationship. It is our privilege to have this manner of godly life. For His children and it is crucial for living in the Father's Kingdom.

New Covenant Kingdom of God teachings emphatically affirm that each of God's Children is in the place to receive understanding and blessings.

That's why born again Believers ...

"... give thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light.

He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love,

in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins," Colossians 3'12-14.

Let us rejoice in these words and hide them in our hearts.

Into the "kingdom of the Son of His love" is the amazing place that the Father Himself puts each one of His Children. It's the same place of the day-to-day relationship as Jesus had.

So, our Kingdom inheritance lies before us right there. It is the place where we have ears to hear. We can “Hear Him!” just as the Father directed us to (Luke 9'35).
