The Spirit in Whole Gatherings -
1 and 2
"... the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all,"
1 Corinthians 12'7.
"There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit ...,"
1 Corinthians 12'4.
"Even so you, since you are zealous for spirituals,
let it be for the edification of the Saints that you seek to excel,"
1 Corinthians 14'12.
When Saints meet together in larger gatherings in Jesus' name the Holy Spirit "the Spirit of Jesus" (Philippians 1'19) is present in special ways.
He is present in the manifestation of the Spirit in the gifts and in His liberty and transforming power.
And when Saints are filled with the Spirit and the word of Christ there are psalms and hymns and spiritual songs and teaching and admonishing one another.
But what is it all for? It is to fulfill what Jesus said: "I will build my Ekklesia" (Matthew 16'18). How would He do it? His People would come to know that later.
But He did say that the Holy Spirit would guide His Disciples into all truth (John 16'13).
Upon His arrival on the Day of Pentecost He began His guiding. Starting with Peter all the apostles were involved in building up the first of the Lord's Called-Out Ones.
Later He inspired Paul who would explain how Jesus' building would happen. He said that it was from "Him who is the head - Christ -"
"... the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies,
according to the effective working by which every part does its share,
causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love," Ephesians 4'16.
Beginning with the ministries of apostles, prophets, evangelists, shepherds and teachers, the Body of Christ builds itself up by the ministries of "what every joint supplies".
There are many "one another ministries" throughout the "Kingdom scriptures" of Acts 2'1 to Revelation 3'22 by which building up takes place.
Of great importance in playing their part are Whole Gatherings.
A Whole Gathering is where the combined ministries of psalms, hymns, spiritual songs, preaching the word of Christ and the manifestation of the Spirit are ministered.
